Byram Township is rich in history with many old rail road trails and mining operations.
Check our 'in-house' reference.. http://www.abandonedmines.net/index_old.htm .
This WIKI link has a lot of info on the area. Sterling Forest and the Ringwood area would also be of interest.
The "Cannonball Road" was an important part of our early history!
It was mainly a transport for iron and cannon balls between Ringwood, Ramapo and Pompton. The Long Pond iron works were quite important.
This link has a good listing of old mines in the NJ area.. http://www.nj.gov/dep/njgs/enviroed/minemaps.htm _________________ F@H.. to cure mankind's maladies.. in our lifetimes! http://folding.stanford.edu/ |
