Ok so i got myself a koehler flame safety lamp. However my lamp has a plain glass globe instead of one with lines, how do i measure for gas without the lines? I have basically no experiance with the lamp so i have no clue.

The lines certainly help and make it easier to read, but its not necessary. What you do is light the lamp before entering the mine, outside of its air flow, and set the flame at about 1/8 inch high. Enter the mine and see if it goes higher or lower. Higher = explosive gas. Lower=oxygen deficiency. Depending on how much it rises or lowers indicates how much percentage of Methane.

So since I own a Koehler FSL, thought Id attach the official Koehler Flame Safety Lamp Operation guide as well. Very Happy
